Stolen Iphone 17 Pro Max Belonging To Governor Sanwo-Olu’s Aide Allegedly Found With Nasarawa Justice Ministry Staff During APC Convention
OpenLife Nigeria reports that what began as a routine attendance at the 8th National Convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja quickly turned into a nerve-wracking ordeal for Wale Ajetunmobi, Senior Special Assistant on Media to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Amid the crowding and tension at the VVIP entrance of Eagle Square, Ajetunmobi’s iPhone 17 Pro Max was reportedly snatched.
Describing the scene, he said the chaos was fueled by “a bottleneck of security checkpoints and unaccredited individuals,” which created an atmosphere ripe for theft.
The recovery, however, showcased the power of modern technology combined with rapid police response.
After tracing the device digitally, it was first pinged in Wuse Zone 6, approximately 8 km from the convention, before moving toward Karu on Abuja’s outskirts. ASP Isah Mohammed led the tracking operation once the police were alerted.
The pursuit ended near Karu Bridge at a roadside car lot, where a branded SUV linked to a Nasarawa governorship aspirant had broken down. During a mass search, one man, Mahmoud Abdullahi, claiming to be a staff of the Nasarawa State Ministry of Justice, became noticeably nervous.

As the search unfolded, the stolen phone slipped from his trousers. Though the battery was dead, Ajetunmobi quickly revived it using his power bank, confirming ownership with his passcode. “The phone came alive,” he stated, commending the Nigeria Police Force for their swift professionalism.
