The Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB) and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) have agreed to allow the use of e-Naira for payment of the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) fees.
This decision was made to eliminate extortion of candidates, block any financial leakages in JAMB’s transactions and reduce the cost of cash transactions.

According to Rakiya Mohammed, Director of IT, Architecture and Strategy Division at the CBN, e-Naira payments will serve as a safe alternative rather than replace cash payments entirely.
To pay for UTME (Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination) registration using e-naira, you can follow these steps:
- Visit the official JAMB (Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board) website and begin the registration process.
- Select e-naira as your preferred payment method.
- You will be prompted to enter your personal and banking information, including your e-naira account details.
- Review and confirm the information you have entered, and then submit your payment.
- Once your payment is confirmed, your registration will be complete and you will be able to print your examination slip.
