OpenLife Nigeria reports that in a dramatic turn of events in the outskirts of Abuja, a ₦13 million borehole project meant to bring clean water to Chika village near Abaji collapsed amid claims of sabotage and mysterious spiritual interference.
Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan, revealed how his team’s effort to provide clean water to Chika village near Abaji ended in frustration and claimed spiritual interference.

Verydarkman organisation, the Martins Vincent Otse Initiative, hired Desco Drilling Engineering Construction Limited in Gwagwalada to drill a borehole for the water-starved community.

According to VeryDarkMan, his team supplied “all the necessary equipment, including tanks for the project.”

But the project quickly ran into trouble.

“My team in charge of drilling boreholes went to Chikara. We bought all the necessary equipment, including tanks for the project.

But before long, everything fell apart. We eventually had to move all the equipment out because, according to reports, some people in the community allegedly used juju to sabotage the project.
First, my team members kept falling sick repeatedly.
Then, the generator started breaking down constantly.

Later, we were told sacrifices were required.
After spending about ₦13 million, wasting time and effort, we had no other option than to pack up and leave.”

VeryDarkMan became emotional as he detailed the collapse of the intervention, which was meant to bring relief to villagers struggling with a lack of access to safe drinking water.

His account has sparked heated debate: some question how “juju” could affect a fuel-powered generator, while others defended his intentions, arguing that some community members blocked help instead of accepting it.

CHIKA VILLAGE AND ABAJI’S WATER CHALLENGES

Chika village is a rural settlement in the Abaji Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, located far from Abuja’s urban centre. Residents of Chika, like many in Abaji, have long struggled with limited access to clean water. Most households rely on private boreholes or water vendors due to unreliable public water systems and inconsistent infrastructure.

Water scarcity in the area is compounded by limited electricity and equipment breakdowns, making borehole projects both urgent and challenging. For villagers, access to a working borehole is essential for daily life, health, and economic activity.

VERYDARKMAN: THE ACTIVIST AND HIS NGO

Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, is a Nigerian social media influencer and activist recognized for his outspoken commentary on governance, corruption, and social issues.

In 2024, VeryDarkMan launched the Martins Vincent Otse Initiative, a non-governmental organization focused on community development, public education, and providing resources to underserved rural areas.

The NGO quickly raised significant financial support, and its stated goals include equipping schools, improving learning conditions, and executing community development projects such as water supply interventions.

The NGO has faced challenges, including allegations of hacking and fund diversion, but Otse maintains that efforts are underway to recover missing funds and ensure transparency.

Curiously, just hours after VeryDarkMan trended over claims that Burna Boy sent him ₦140 million, the activist has reportedly acquired a brand-new 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser, said to be worth ₦278 million, in Asokoro, Abuja.
