Solid Waste Treatment: President Akufo-Addo cuts sod in Upper West Region

Solid waste management in Ghana has been of concern to President Akufo-Addo led government.

In the past few weeks, the President has been involved in ultramodern solid waste treatment Facility {sod cutting} across regions.

Jospong Group with it’s partners including  Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources are behind the initiative.

On Friday, the Clergy, traditional leaders and youth in the Upper West Region gathered to witness yet another sod cutting.

This time, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo  was at kparisi near the regional capital Wa to perform  the sod cutting.

Upper West Region is the 8th region in the  President’s vision in ensuring Ghana becomes the cleanest City in Africa.

At the event, Naa Seidu Hamidu Bomison(Dajeng-Naa) read Naa Mahama Seidu Kunligi II speech. Kunligi II is the paramount chief of Kperisi traditional area.

In the speech, Kunligi II  welcomed the gathering to the paramoncy. He emphasized the respect accorded the community through the construction of the solid waste treatment facility on their land.

“This will help improve our sanitation challenge. It will will also promote tourism. The people of Kperisi traditional area will forever appreciate your efforts”.

The Upper West Regional Minister Honourable Hafiz Bin Salih expressed profound gratitude to the President and the Jospong Group Chairman.

“This facility will be beneficial to the entire Upper West Region. It will help us manage solid waste challenge in the region. We deeply appreciate. The regional coordination will offer the support that the Jospong Group of Companies needs to complete this project.”

 He therefore appealed to other entrepreneurs to show investment interest in the Region.

Joseph Siaw Agyepong, the executive chairman of the Jospong Group thanked the people of the Upper West Region.

“I thanked  Chief kperisi for accepting the initiative to build the facility on their land. We are grateful to the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo led government and the Minister for Sanitation, Cecelia Abena Dapaah for giving the Jospong Group the needed opportunity to be part the president’s initiative.

In his address, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo re emphasized the hope that Ghana becomes cleanest on the African continent.

“I am particularly happy to work with the Minster for Sanitation for showing incredible dynamism for partnering the astute and affable entrepreneur Dr Joseph Siaw Agyepong and urged the residents to collaborate with the Jospong Group to achieve the purpose in which the Facility was built”. President Nana Addo added.
