Senator Solomon
OpenLife Nigeria reports that the 2027 governorship ambition of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, also known by the alias ‘Yayi,’ may not be as robust and assuring as it used to be in the days ahead.
This signal is coming on the heels of emerging developments in the State whereby members who believe in him are weighing options.
According to information, thousands of members of APC-aligned support groups, including the Yayi Door-to-Door Campaign Group, alongside members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Ogun Central Electorate Association, Get Done Associates, Okowo Dapo Women and other grassroots movements, on Tuesday declared support for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its governorship candidate, Honourable Oladipupo Adebutu.
Political analysts describe the development as a major political realignment ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
So determined were the aggrieved hitherto APC supporters to ensure that the party records less than 10 percent vote in the election that they started tearing Yayi/APC campaign banners and materials.
Insiders said that the actions were not just symbolic but the height of display by members of their decision to leave the ruling party.
Several defectors attributed their move to broken promises, rising economic hardship and dissatisfaction with governance.
Some civil servants alleged that government housing schemes had become unaffordable for ordinary workers, while artisans said worsening economic conditions had forced many to abandon their trades for commercial motorcycle riding.
PDP leaders described the development as a sign of growing grassroots support, while the defectors said they were joining a movement they believe offers a credible alternative for Ogun State.
The August 10 1969 born Senator who currently represents Ogun West in the 10th Senate “is badly rattled at the moment,” one of his close associates confided in OpenLife Tuesday night.
