Senator Ali Ndume Raises Fresh Alarm
OpenLife Nigeria reports that a Senator representing Borno South senatorial district, Ali Ndume, has raised the alarm over government borrowing with no tangible result to show for it.
Speaking on Arise TV Monday evening, Senator Ndume noted that over N30 trillion has been borrowed by the federal government.
“Over N13 trillion has been borrowed and most of the borrowings are not on tangible items,” he lamented.
Specifically, Ndume pointed out that government took loan of about $750 million for Economic support.
Further, Senator Ndume said that I am a bonafide member of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
He added that the alarm he raided is well known to his colleagues in the Senate but sad enough, most of them do not have the guts to speak out publicly.
“I will always account for my actions. I have the supports of my colleagues but they don’t have the guts to speaks about the rot publicly,” he submitted.
On insecurity, Senator Ndume lamented that at the moment, travelling from Maiduguri to Damboa within Borno State has become a nightmare.
“You can’t travelled on the road after 5pm in Borno State,” because of insecurity.
He however explained that “Our soldiers are making sacrifices. But most of them are not paid their allowances. Armed forced not well trained. They are not well paid by the government,” he lamented.
Born on 20 November, 1959, Senator Ndume has served as the Senator representing Borno South senatorial district since 2011.
He was a member of the House of Representatives of Nigeria from 2003 to 2011. He is currently a member of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
