OpenLife Nigeria reports that the he Senator representing Uyo Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Bassey Albert is set to defect to the Young Progressives Party (YPP), as plans are being finalized for his defection.
According to sources, Bassey Albert who will not get the ticket of the People’s Democratic Party, does not want to be caught in a web of not standing for elections, haven disappointed his followers in 2015, when instead of standing for the Governorship position, he negotiated his way to the Senate without the knowledge of his supporters.
We gathered that, in order to secure his back up plan for defection, he had moved for the emergence of Yeneime Andy, the General Overseer of Holy Ghost Ambassadors Church as the State Chairman of YPP.
OBA we learnt has been lobbying the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan to mount pressure on the All Progressives Congress to give him the ticket of the APC in Akwa Ibom State, but has made brick walls, as the faction of APC in Akwa Ibom which Godswill Akpabio has installed the party Chairman, is not disposed to OBA, but with the unrealistic plan, he has aligned his interest with the YPP.
Meanwhile, Nyeneime Andy, and others, are planning a defection ceremony for OBA after the PDP primaries, our source stated.
