SDP raises alarm over Ortom’s attempts to alter results in Benue Council poll

Social Democratic Party, SDP, in Benue State has called on President Muhammadu Buhari and Pepople Democratic Party, PDP national leadership to call governor Samuel Ortom to order in his desperate attempt to cancel the results of Ward one in Ado Local Government Area overwhelmingly won by SDP in Saturday’s Council election.

Raising the alarm on Sunday afternoon, the State Chairman of the Party, Engineer  John Enemari, told journalist that “Our party, the Social Democratic Party, SDP overwhelmingly won Igumale Ward One in Ado Local Government Area. Our candidate Pascal Adire is very popular and well loved by the people. But the governor has not allowed the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission, BSIEC to announce the results. They are making attempts to alter the results and political decision of the people knowing that SDP has the highest number of votes. We are calling on all political stakeholders including President Buhari and Uche Secondus to call governor Ortom to order. SDP has won this ward and any attempt to deny us this victory will be vehemently resisted. They may have won in other areas but SDP victory must not be denied in Igumale Ward. The people believe in SDP and they know what they stand to gain in SDP. That was the reason they voted SDP,” Enemari  stated

It would be recalled that local government election was Saturday held  across the 23 Local Government Areas and 276 council wards of Benue state with a large turn out of voters in the urban and rural areas. Five political parties including then the Social Democratic Party, SDP, Labour Party, LP, African Action Congress, AAC, All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, participated in the council poll.
