Rivers State House Of Assembly Moves

OpenLife Nigeria reports that the Rivers State House of Assembly has commenced impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalayi Fubara during plenary.

The Majority Leader, Major Jack, read out the notice of gross misconduct against the governor before the House today, Thursday, January 8, 2026.

Some of the accusations include the demolition of the Assembly Complex, extra-budgetary spending, withholding funds meant for the Assembly Service Commission, and a refusal to obey the Supreme Court on the financial autonomy of the House.
