Reno Omokri’s Acceptance
OpenLife News reports that the Federal Government says 65 out of the 69 ambassadors appointed by President Bola Tinubu have received acceptance from their host countries.
In a statement on Saturday, Kimiebi Ebienfa, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said this represents a 97 percent acceptance rate.Ebienfa attributed the two confirmed outstanding cases to Grace Bent, ambassador-designate to Togo, who declined the offer, and Mohammed Mahmud Lele, ambassador-designate to Algeria, who died on April 19 in Ankara, Turkey, after a protracted illness.
He said replacement processes for both are ongoing.Though the ministry did not name the other two pending postings, TheCable understands they are Japan and Mexico.
Reno Omokri, former presidential spokesperson, was nominated for Mexico, while Olumilua Oluwayimika Ayotunwa was nominated for Japan.Ebienfa said “assurances have been received from the two friendly countries that their consent would be given in due course,” and described the overall diplomatic process as “smooth and successful.”
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to assure Nigerians and the international stakeholders that it is actively engaging the relevant authorities in the two countries and is confident that the outstanding Agreements will be conveyed in due course,” the statement added.
The spokesperson noted that the majority of the confirmed ambassadors have already arrived at their duty posts and presented their letters of credence.
