Principal Officers elected in Warri
OpenLife Nigeria has gathered that the Legislative Arm of Warri North Local Government Council, has elected some of its key principal officers to pilot the affairs of the sixth assembly.
The process which took place at the legislative hall of the council secretariat, saw Honourable Urunmatsoma Onejeyema, emerging as the leader of the house, and while Honourable Bigha Grikpa, emerged the deputy leader.
In his maiden address to the house, immediately after being inaugurated as leader of the sixth assembly, Hon. Urunmatsoma thanked the house for the confidence on him, and promised people-centred legislations ahead.
He urged fellow honourable members to deliver on their campaign promises to the people they have sworn to serve saying; “Our duty as councillors is to represent the people at the grassroots level in the affairs of government, and will must be committed to improving their lives through good legislations.”
The new leader also called for a harmonious working relationship with the present administration.
He later inaugurated other key officers, of which are, Honourable. Dora John emerged the majority leader, Honourable Appearance Afejuku, deputy majority leader while Honourable Tsitse Tene takes up the office of the chief whip.
Warri North is one of the 25 Council areas of Delta State. Its headquarters is in the town of Koko. It has an area of 1,841 km2 and a population of 137,300 at the 2006 census. The postal code of the area is 332.
