President Of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Visits New Commissioner Of Police Lagos
OpenLife Nigeria reports that the President, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Lagos, Chief Solomon Ogbonna Aguene, has called on Ndigbo in Lagos to make Police their friend. The call came after his meeting with the new Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Mr. Adegoke Fayoade on January 18, 2024. In this interview with OpenLife, he spoke about his impression about Commissioner Adegoke Fayoade
Sir, you recently visited the new Commissioner of Police, Lagos State with some top Igbo personalities. What was the visit about?
Yes, I, Chief Solomon Ogbonna Aguene, as the President, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Lagos State, visited the new Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, Mr Adegoke Fayoade to discuss Ndigbo matters especially as law abiding citizens.
You know I am a friend of the Police. I have received many honours and awards from the police.
In October 2020, Crime Reporters Association of Nigeria {CRAN} during its 28th annual lecture, conferred on me the honour of Merit Award on Humanitarian and Community Policing.
Former Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 2, AIG Ahmed Iliyasu, handed me the plaque at Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos.
Again, the Nigeria Police Force , Area C Command Headquarters, Lagos, on Thursday, September 30, 2021, inducted me as their patron in recognition of my Outstanding And Exemplary Service To The Nation And Humanity.
So, when I thought about the visit, I decided to go with an Igbo household name, Chief Chidi Anyaebgu, known as Chisco motors, the Anambra billionaire who is also the chairman of Anambra State Security Trust Fund, who believes so much in my leadership quality.
His friend, who is also the immediate former commissioner of Police Anambra State, Mr. Okaula Samuel Abiche also accompanied us on the visit.
I also went with a man of God who did the opening prayers before the meeting started, Reverend Obinna Ropheka Mbadugha who is also a Police Chaplain.
I, Chief Solomon believe in God who gives us testimonies in all areas of our endeavours. We can’t do without God.
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr Adegoke Fayoade is a good Christian and core gentleman with vibrant actions when needed. He is an intelligent officer with discipline.
The Inspector General of Police got it right by posting Commissioner Fayoade to Lagos. Ndigbo, we must make police our friend.
With Adegoke Fayoade, government has got it right for every resident in Lagos. I trust President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. I am sure he knows about it.
Leadership is by birth. That is the title I, Chief Solomon Ogbonna Aguene, the President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Lagos, give to Jagaban.
From my interactions with the new Lagos State Police Commissioner, he is going to work with everybody and there will be massive improvement on security in Lagos State.
During our discussions, I came to realized that he is a detribalized police officer.
So, I want to use this opportunity to pass this message to all Ndigbo in Lagos that everyone should be law abiding and they should not involve themselves in any criminal activities no matter how little.
We, the Ndigbo, should be mindful of what comes out of our mouth at all time.
We must live like the military- Army Navy, Airforce, Police etc. They serve in every government irrespective of the ruling party.
I am giving this advice as a born leader and as someone who believes in one Nigeria. However, if any Ndigbo is in any situation that concerns his or her rights and there is any kind of intimidation, the person shouuld contact Ohanaeze Ndigbo secretariat/ headquarters , Surulere, Lagos. I will help.
I am still in charge as President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Lagos till 2026 through a Lagos High Court Judgement with Certified True Copy, CTP just like our President Tinubu who Court gave judgement including many State governors which nobody can counter till the tenure elapses.
Ndigbo, no constitution of any tribe is above Nigeria constitution. We must be law abiding. Ignorance is not an excuse in law. And that is discipline.
