President Buhari Is Committed To Police Welfare—IG

<p><em>President Buhari Muhammadu is demonstrating a commitment to an improved standard of living for Police officers<&sol;em><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong><a href&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;openlife&period;ng&sol;delta-apc-a-confused-bunch-of-unserious-people-delta-pdp&sol;">OpenLife<&sol;a><&sol;strong> reports that President <strong>Buhari<&sol;strong> Muhammadu is committed to the welfare of officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;This was the disclosure of the Inspector General of Police&comma; Mohammed Adamu on Tuesday in Lagos&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;The Inspector-General was on -the -spot assessment of the destruction and vandalism of Police Stations orchestrated by &num;Endsars protesters in Lagos&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;He used the occasion to reassure officers of Buhari’s administration’s commitment to improved standards of living and a conducive environment for Police officers to operate&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;Among other things&comma; the IG pointed out the 2020 Nigeria Police Bill which was signed into law by<br &sol;>&NewLine;President Muhammadu Buhari in a memo dated September 16&comma; 2020&comma; communicating his assent to the Bill to the National Assembly&comma; through the Clerk of the legislature&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;The Act which establishes an appropriate funding framework for the Police repeals the 2004 Police Act Cap 19 Laws of the Federation&period; It provides for an effective Police Force and enhances <a href&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;openlife&period;ng&sol;">professionalism<&sol;a> through increased training opportunities and enduring cooperation&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;According to him&comma; &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;The bill has been with National Assembly for a reasonable length of time&period; But President Buhari decided to sign it into law because of his commitment to a better policing in Nigeria&comma;” he said&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;The IG stressed further that in line with the 2020 Police Act&comma; the Police have commenced the process of an improved salary structure that will ensure that officers and men are elevated from the poverty level&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;
