Police Inspector General arrests 799 rape suspects as Adeboye declares spiritual war on rapists

The Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu     has disclosed that about 799 rape suspects have been arrested in the last five months.

Adamu gave this update on cases of sexual violence reported in parts of the country on Monday while briefing State House correspondents after a closed-door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The police boss revealed that between January and May, about 717 rape incidents were reported across the country.

He added that during the period, the police arrested about 799 suspects in connection with rape cases.

According to the IGP, 631 cases have been conclusively investigated and charged to court while 52 cases are still under investigation.

He briefed reporters in company with the Minister of Women Affairs, Pauline Tallen, and the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed.

Meanwhile, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, has declared spiritual war on rapists worldwide.

Adeboye who stated this in a short video lamented the gruesome murder of Uwaila Vera Omozuwa who was found dead, lying half-naked in a pool of blood at the church after being raped and killed. “That girl was my daughter. I will cry to my God for justice,” he said. Omozuwa, 22,  was studying Microbiology at the University of Benin City
