Phyna Speaks Out After Facing Heat Over BBL Decision, Months After Sister’s Death

Phyna Speaks Out After Facing Heat Over BBL Decision

OpenLife reports that public reactions have continued to trail reality star Ijeoma Josephina Otabor, better known as Phyna, after she revealed she recently underwent cosmetic surgery.

The Big Brother Naija Level Up winner disclosed that she had a 360 liposuction and a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL), a move that quickly became a topic of debate online.

A number of social media users expressed discomfort with her decision, pointing out that it came not long after the loss of her sister. For them, the timing raised questions about how she chose to navigate such a difficult period.
However, Phyna has made it clear that she does not owe anyone an explanation for how she deals with her personal experiences.

Responding directly to the criticism, she described many of the comments as judgmental and unnecessary. She also addressed the assumption that grief must follow a specific pattern or timeline, insisting that people process loss differently.

She wrote:
“Nigerians are hypocrites. A lot of miserable people in my comment section are dragging me for doing BBL a few months after my sister’s de@th. Even her parents moved on the second day she d!ed. I have already grieved my sister, and she will always remain in my heart”.

Her statement drew attention across social platforms, with supporters backing her stance on personal freedom, while others maintained that public figures should be more mindful of how their actions are perceived.
The situation took another turn when a user confronted her in a direct and confrontational manner, asking:

“Wetin dey worry you? Shey, your sister just die”.
Phyna did not ignore the remark and replied sharply:
“I be think sey your mama die yesterday”.

Her response has continued to fuel conversations, dividing opinions between those who see her reaction as justified and those who feel it crossed a line. Through it all, Phyna has remained firm, choosing to stand by her decisions and speak openly about her perspective.
