OpenLife Nigeria reports that the governor of Akwa Ibom State, Udom Emmanuel, has been thoroughly disgraced at a political campaign rally.
The disgrace, which public affairs analyst described as signs of diminishing returns in his political sojourn in Akwa Ibom State, occured when at a rally the governor asked the supposedly Peoples Democratic Party, PDP supporters if they would vote Atiku and PDP.
The response, to the astonishment of the governor and his lieutenants, was a resounding NO.
The attempt to repeat same question by the governor provoked bitter reactions with a thunderous NO.
Speaking to OpenLife magazine Friday night, a Professor of Political Science who hails from the old Cross River State, now comprising Akwa Ibom and Cross River State, said the video of the event which has gone viral is the needed signal that governor Udom Emmanuel would fail woefully in the coming round of elections in the State.
‘Governor Udom Emmanuel is autocratic. Atiku made a big mistake by picking him to join the leadership of his campaign.
“The people are going to disgrace him the more during governorship election because he arm twisted even the party leader and forced his selfish choice on them,” he said.
Continuing, the professor added that the Supreme Court verdict, on Friday, in favour of Senator Godswill Akpabio of the All Progressives Congress, APC, is going to be the final nail on governor Udom Emmanuel’s political coffin.
“Akpabio made him. He betrayed Akpabio. He went ahead and betrayed those who gave him wing to fly in the party. Now, Akpabio and his APC governorship candidate are back on the field. Governor Udom will meet his water loo at the polls, ” he stated.
The professor added that the days ahead will be interesting as lots of information about the financial recklessness of the governor would be laid bare for public scrutiny.
