PDP Governors Make Final Move
OpenLife Nigeria reports that governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, have made “the final move” to suspend Nyesom Wike from the party.
Nyesom Wike is the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja.
He was a also a two-term governor of oil rich Rivers State.
Over a reasonable length of time, Nyesom Wike has been in tango with his successor in office, governor Siminalayi Fubara, over the control of governance in the State.
To maintain a controlling balance in the PDP structure in the State, Wike who is a current minister in the All Progressives Congress, APC government in Abuja has put his deft political machinery in good use by ensuring that those who matter in PDP are loyal to him.
To a very large extent, this has angered many in the party who feel it is wrong for Wike to be working in APC government and retain his controlling influence in PDP.
After several maneuvering and given his antics to unseat Fubara as Rivers governor, twelve PDP governors have been in a closed-door meeting in Asaba, the Delta State capital.
It was also gathered that the governors, who arrived at the government house in Asaba last night, have been in the meeting since morning.
Top on the agenda, according to insider is the final plan to suspend Wike from the party.
Coming just few days when Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, stated that his resolve to work harmoniously with the Chairman of PDP Governors’ Forum, Senator Bala Mohammed, is to reposition the party in the right direction, insiders confide in OpenLife Friday afternoon that the Asaba meeting is “To suspend Nyesom Wike.”
