Oyo State Rotational Council Of Obas: You Lied, Alaafin Faults Governor Seyi Makinde

<h4>Oyo State Rotational Council Of Obas<&sol;h4>&NewLine;<p>&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong><a href&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;openlife&period;ng&sol;">OpenLife Nigeria<&sol;a><&sol;strong> reports that following the inauguration of the Oyo State Council of Obas and Chief during which governor Seyi Makinde disclosed that he consulted widely&comma; the Alaafin of Oyo &comma; Engineer Abimbola Akeem Owoade 1 has said that he was not consulted before Olubadan was made chairman of Council of Obas &amp&semi; Chiefs&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>This is contained in a statement from the Alaafin&&num;8217&semi;s palace as reproduced below<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><em><strong>The attention of the Alaafin&&num;8217&semi;s Palace has been drawn to a statement credited to His Excellency&comma; Governor Seyi Makinde that he consulted with the three traditional rulers in the State&comma; the Alaafin&comma; the Olubadan and the Soun of Ogbomoso on the rotational Chairmanship of the State Council of Obas and Chiefs&period;<&sol;strong><&sol;em><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><em><strong>The Palace hereby wants to state clearly that there was no time that His Imperial Majesty&comma; the Alaafin of Oyo &comma; Oba Engineer Abimbola Akeem Owoade 1&comma; held any meeting with either the State Governor or any of the two traditional rulers mentioned above&period;<&sol;strong><&sol;em><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><em><strong>Also the Alaafin did not tell the Governor or make a categorical statement on his endorsement of rotational Chairmanship among the the three traditional rulers in the State&period;<&sol;strong><&sol;em><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><em><strong>The position of the Alaafin and the Entire Oyo Community on the general issue of the&comma;State&comma; Council of Obas&comma;and Chiefs has been enunciated in a Memo delivered to His Excellency by the Oyo Council of Elders&period;<&sol;strong><&sol;em><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><em><strong>Signed<&sol;strong><&sol;em><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><em><strong>Bode Durojaiye&comma;<&sol;strong><&sol;em><br &sol;>&NewLine;<em><strong>Director of Media and Publicity to the Alaafin&comma; Paramount Ruler of Oyo Kingdom and the Superior Head of Yorubaland<&sol;strong><&sol;em>&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;

Nollywood Actress, Shine Rosman, Raises Alarm Over Alleged Sexual Harassment In Lagos OpenLife reports that Nollywood actress Shine Rosman has spoken about what she describes as ongoing incidents of sexual harassment affecting women in parts of Lagos, particularly in Yaba. She said the issue is widely known among residents but remains unaddressed. “Do you know how bad sexual harrssment is in Lagos? Like go to Yaba, as a girl and see how you will be touched inappropriately. Everybody hearing this knows that it is true. But till today, nothing is being done about it.” She described what she claims are repeated incidents of inappropriate contact in public spaces without consequences for those responsible. “You’re walking in Yaba and people are touching you inappropriately and nothing will happen.” Rosman questioned the absence of effective intervention and raised concerns about personal safety in such environments. “If the government is not going to do anything, is it not ok for us to defend ourselves? In 2026, in a country like Nigeria, s+xual har+ssment is still one of the most passive things.” She also raised concerns about the implications of such behaviour occurring in open public spaces. “If a man can s+xually h+rass you casually during the day, what do you think he can do behind closed doors when no one is looking?”. The comments were made during an interview with Tolu Afilaka, where she discussed women’s safety in public areas of Lagos.
