Oyo govt reacts as ritualist turns students to yam

<p><strong>The <a href&equals;"http&colon;&sol;&sol;OpenLife&period;ng">Oyo State government<&sol;a> has reacted to the reports making the rounds that two students of <a href&equals;"http&colon;&sol;&sol;OpenLife&period;ng">Bashorun High School<&sol;a>&comma; Ibadan&comma; <a href&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;openlife&period;ng&sol;watch-how-suspected-ritualist-was-burnt-alive-for-turning-students-into-yam&sol;">were turned into tubers of yam by a suspected ritualist<&sol;a>&period;<&sol;strong><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The State commissioner for Education&comma; Rahman Abiodun Abdul-Raheem said there was no iota of truth in the sensational report&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>He made this clarification&comma; while addressing students&comma; parents and guardians of the school when he visited on Friday&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The commissioner had visited the school on Friday afternoon&comma; while on fact-finding mission&comma; following a report in the social media that such incident happened in the school&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The social media buzzed with the news of how a suspected ritualist turned two students of the school into tubers of yam with unused pampers&period; &lpar;<a href&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;openlife&period;ng&sol;watch-how-suspected-ritualist-was-burnt-alive-for-turning-students-into-yam&sol;">Read Here<&sol;a>&rpar;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>It was reported that the suspect was caught by a local security guard around Bode Wasinmi-Bashorun axis&comma; at a location close to the school&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>This&comma; however&comma; created fear in the minds of residents&comma; especially the parents and guardians&comma; whose children and wards attend the school&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Abdul-Raheem said findings from the school management showed that none of the school students was reported missing&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<h1><span style&equals;"color&colon; &num;800080&semi;"><a style&equals;"color&colon; &num;800080&semi;" href&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;openlife&period;ng&sol;tinubu-is-suffering-silently-in-apc-senator-hanga&sol;">Tinubu Completely Neglected&comma; Suffering Silently In APC -Senator Hanga<&sol;a><&sol;span><&sol;h1>&NewLine;<p>The commissioner&comma; however&comma; called for calm&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>He assured them that the security operatives would dig deeper into the incident to unravel details of what really happened&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The commissioner admonished the general public to remain patient&comma; saying that the safety of every resident in the state was a priority for the Gov&period; Seyi Makinde-led administration<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;

Nollywood Actress, Shine Rosman, Raises Alarm Over Alleged Sexual Harassment In Lagos OpenLife reports that Nollywood actress Shine Rosman has spoken about what she describes as ongoing incidents of sexual harassment affecting women in parts of Lagos, particularly in Yaba. She said the issue is widely known among residents but remains unaddressed. “Do you know how bad sexual harrssment is in Lagos? Like go to Yaba, as a girl and see how you will be touched inappropriately. Everybody hearing this knows that it is true. But till today, nothing is being done about it.” She described what she claims are repeated incidents of inappropriate contact in public spaces without consequences for those responsible. “You’re walking in Yaba and people are touching you inappropriately and nothing will happen.” Rosman questioned the absence of effective intervention and raised concerns about personal safety in such environments. “If the government is not going to do anything, is it not ok for us to defend ourselves? In 2026, in a country like Nigeria, s+xual har+ssment is still one of the most passive things.” She also raised concerns about the implications of such behaviour occurring in open public spaces. “If a man can s+xually h+rass you casually during the day, what do you think he can do behind closed doors when no one is looking?”. The comments were made during an interview with Tolu Afilaka, where she discussed women’s safety in public areas of Lagos.
