Outrage In Celestial Church of Christ As James Brown Attends Prayer In Female Sutana

Outrage In Celestial Church of Christ

OpenLife Nigeria reports that a video featuring popular content creator James Brown, known for his cross-dressing persona, has ignited debate within the Celestial Church of Christ (CCC) community.

In the footage, James Brown is seen participating in a prayer session while dressed in a female sutana inside a CCC parish, prompting reactions that range from shock to outright condemnation.

Many social media users initially assumed the video depicted a spiritual deliverance, but Celestial Reality Check (CRC) clarified the matter on Facebook.

According to CRC, James Brown attended the church to receive prayers for personal success and blessings, not for deliverance.

CRC explained:
JAMES BROWN DELIVERANCE February 1st, 2026. Prophet Eze Timothy, who oversees CCC Orisun Iye Parish, Alpha and Omega, at Alhaji Opeloyeru Street, off Senukoro Aiyetoro, Ado-Odo/Ota LGA, Ogun State, is aware of James Brown’s male identity and his preference for cross-dressing.”

The video posted online was a genuine prayer session, not a staged performance. Initially labeled as a deliverance by some Instagram blogs, CRC has since clarified that it was a prayer for success and blessings.

The Shepherd appears to focus on James Brown’s success rather than deliverance. The controversy arises from his attire during the session and its circulation online.

Authorities, including the CCC Task-Force Office in Ogun State, the Prophet and Prophetess Council, and the Shepherd’s Disciplinary Committee, may need to provide guidance to prevent abnormal practices from becoming normalized.”

Despite CRC’s clarification, some clerics openly criticized the video. Segun Glorious, a pastor at CCC, expressed concern about the implications of the recording:

“My concern is that this act of shame is taking place in a church building that is yet to be completed.

“This individual should not exploit the church for content while the building remains unfinished. While leadership struggles continue within the church, the global perception of CCC is being negatively affected.

“For non-members, I want to emphasize that this content does not align with our doctrinal teachings.”

Another cleric, Michael Abatanwa, voiced a similar condemnation:

“As a shepherd and member of CCC, I believe James Brown’s actions are inappropriate, and the Shepherd must be questioned by church authorities. Such behavior is not permitted in CCC anywhere in the world.”

Social media quickly erupted with reactions to the video:
@Lanre Sammy:
“A man put on female sutana….woli Bali won tun pase asekini……. Stomach calling Prophets.”

@Aigbe Osariemen Precious:

“This act is very bad on the image of the church, na even 4 corner they wear am.”

@Abigail Adewumi:
“What did I just watch father Lord. The Woli sef need deliverance oo. Na four corner he even wear…..Kai with her rumple dress.”

@Olori Sarah:
“Deliverance indeed , why is he wearing woman Garmet.”

@Abigail Adewumi:
“You sure say God called you abi na ur belle called you.”

The incident has sparked a wider discussion about boundaries in sacred spaces, the role of social media, and the perception of religious practices in the digital age.

While James Brown’s intentions may have been personal blessings, the choice of attire and the viral spread of the video have raised questions among CCC members about what is appropriate in their houses of worship.
