OpenLife Nigeria reports that the Ondo State chapter of the Organisation of Informal Sector of Registered Trade Unions In Nigeria, has cautioned its members to ignore the calls from some quarters to occupy the streets of the state capital under the guise of protests.
In a statement issued and signed by its Publicity Secretary in the state, Comrade Wole Ọlọ́runșuyì, the body has informed its members which includes transporters, market prospectors and mineral refiners to turn down any plan by some individuals to disrupt the peace in the state.
The statement claimed that the organisation was aware of the harsh economy and has decently engaged the authority and knowing fully well that the situation is being addressed.
“Let no one be deceived of the call to occupy the streets of Akure in the name of protests to end bad governance .
“It is a cleverly designed motive of some mischief makers to balance its accounts with their sponsors. We are engaging and will still continue to engage the authorities in a civilized manner.
“We will not allow any part of Ondo State to be turned to rubbles as is been witnessed in some part of the country,” the group advised in the statement.
