Oliver Akubueze Applauds Chief Mbata, Senator Agbaso For Resolving Lagos Ohanaeze Ndigbo Crises, Sets To Correct The Error Against Consent Judgement By Conducting Fresh Election

Oliver Akubueze Applauds Chief Mbata

OpenLife Nigeria reports that Chief Oliver Akubueze, former Chairman, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos, has applauded Chief Azuta Mbata, President General Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide and Senator Martin Agbaso, Grand Patron, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos, for the crucial roles they played to end the crises in the Lagos chapter of the Igbo apex socio-cultural organization.

Speaking exclusively to OpenLife on Saturday at Ikeja Airport Hotel, Chief Akubueze said that the intelligent interventions of Senators Mbata and Agbaso have resulted to peace in the Lagos Ohanaeze Ndigbo chapter

We have information that you are going to preside over election that will usher in fresh executives into the Lagos Ohanaeze Ndigbo. Can you clarify the circumstances around this assignment as well as the peace that has returned to the socio cultural group?

Well, thank you very much for this question. First, I led Ohanaeze as the President between 2009 and 2013. So, I have the experience and I have what it takes to make Ohanaeze Ndigbo function well.

Chief Solomon Ogbonna Aguene, President, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos, ready to make any sacrifice for continuous peace in Lagos Ohanaeze Ndigbo

On the recent development that led to the resolution of the conflicts that entangled the organization in the past, this was exactly what happened.

I was made the chairman of electoral committee by President Solomon. In the Consent Judgement he has, my name was mentioned that I should conduct election into the whole Local Government Areas and into other executive positions but not into the position of President.

The Consent Judgement President Solomon has implies that the office of the President has not been vacant.
But I made a mistake by conducting election into the office of the President.

That means I made a mistake by doing what I was not supposed to do, a very big one which court said I should not do. Court judgments says I should not conduct election into that office and I did.

Senator Martin Agbaso, Grand Patron, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos, set the template for conflict resolution

That made President Solomon to go to court because I have erred. Court summoned me to come and explain within 48 hours why they should not jail me. I want to establish that I made a mistake by conducting that election.

Now, the president Solomon has called me again and said “Since you made a mistake in the past, I want you to come and correct that mistake. You will conduct the new election rightfully the way it should be”

I said no problem. I will conduct the election and correct that error. Since that election, there has been conflict between President Solomon and Chief Osaai’s group which made me to consult our Grand Patron, Senator Martin Agbaso .

He came into the matter and asked questions. He took a decision that he will approach the issue the way it should be.
I have to give Senator Martin Agbaso the kudos for playing the role he played to usher in the peace that we are going to be enjoying from now in Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos.
For many years, we have been like enemies, fighting one another.
But peace has come to reign.

Chief Azuta Mbata, President General, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, inspires confidence in Ohanaeze Ndigbo

Like I told you, I am going to conduct the election correctly the way it should be to bring in new leadership from beginning to the end. Those who are qualified to contest will contest and those not qualified to contest will be dropped.
There will be proper screening of all the aspirants. My self and my electoral committee members will ensure we conduct a credible election.

That will be next years because the tenure of President Solomon will expire next year. I will bring new leadership.
We will conduct Local Government election first before the state executives election.

Can you now confirm that peace has returned to Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos?

Yes, peace has already returned. The owners of Ohanaeze Ndigbo which is the Enugu national executives led by our President General, Chief Azuta Mbata has pronounced that Solomon’s regime is the authentic and that the election we conducted is fake and they don’t recognize it. I conducted that election in 2022.

Chief Oliver Akubueze, former Chairman, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos, now chairman electoral committee, vows to conduct credible election

So, the roles played by our Enugu leaders and our Grand Patron in Lagos have brought peace to the state chapter.
