Ogun Police Command Provides Update On Anthony

OpenLife Nigeria reports that Ogun State Police Command has provided an update on the prosecution process of the driver that conveyed renowned boxer, Anthony Joshau in an ill-fated Toyota Lexus SUV.

According to a statement signed by DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, Police Public Relations Officer
Ogun State Command and made available to OpenLife, the driver named Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode is under going prosecution.

The statement further disclosed that the Sagamu Magistrate Court where he is under going trial has adjoined the case to 20th January, 2026.

The terse statement reads:

The Ogun State Police Command wishes to inform the general public that the driver of the Lexus SUV involved in the Anthony Joshua accident case, Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode (male), aged 46, was charged in Sagamu Magistrate Court today, 2nd January, 2026 and the case has been adjourned to 20th January, 2026.

It would be recalled that on Monday, December 29, a Lexus SUV carrying the former heavyweight champion and two of his associates crashed into a stationary truck on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, which links Ogun state to Lagos.

The two associates, Sina Ghami and Latif “Latz” Ayodele, were killed.
On Wednesday afternoon, Joshua was released from a Lagos hospital Wednesday and he paid his respects to his deceased friends at the morgue.

The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, said Wednesday that the 36-year-old had been discharged after being deemed clinically fit to recuperate from “home.”
