Ogun ploy Rector Bags NANS Leadership Award

&NewLine;<p><br> The National Association of Nigerian Students &lpar;NANS&rpar;&comma; has conferred the 2019 National Outstanding Leadership Award on the Rector of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic&comma; Abeokuta&comma; Dr&period; Samson Adeola Odedina as &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;The Most Students Friendly Head of Institution”&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p>Odedina&comma; who was the guest speaker at the NANS OGUN Joint Campus Committee 2019 inauguration ceremony at the Federal College of Education in Abeokuta spoke on &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;The Roles of Nigerian Students in Restoring the Lost Glory of Nigeria”<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p>He told the students leaders across higher institutions of learning in Nigeria to take advantageous connection with national potentials for stable economy&comma; adequate security&comma; entrepreneurship development among others to revive Nigeria’s lost glory&period; <br>&NewLine;The rector challenged the students to rise up to uphold national tasks with positive mindset&comma; saying the future of the nation is in their hands&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p>He explained saying&comma; &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;some years back&comma; we were where you are today as students and in few years time&comma; you will be where we are today as leaders”&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p>The chief host&comma; Comrade Azeez Amoo Adeyemi&comma; National Public Relations Officer of NANS&comma; said the inaugural ceremony was first in the history of NANS&comma; Ogun state chapter&comma; which was also designed to honour some revered personalities&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p>NANS also called on the Government of Ogun State to as a matter of urgency pay Nigerian students all accumulated bursary the present administration is owing as we will not hesitate to stage a protest to demand for what is rightfully&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p>He said&comma; the decision to honour MAPOLY Rector with the leadership award as &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;The Most Students Friendly Head of Institution” was reached at the Senate for his role at creating enabling environment for Nigerian students&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p>He explained that the impact of Dr&period; Odedina was felt for conducting first ever peaceful Students Union election in MAPOLY as well as his supports for OGUN NANS election&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p>&OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;I want to thank MAPOLY rector for his friendliness and numerous supports within the little period of his administration&comma; especially for conducting first ever peaceful &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;e-voting” election for MAPOLY students&comma;” he revealed adding that the tremendous support he has been given to students across the country was another reason for the award&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p>He expressed that the body recognised his antecedents on professional capabilities and sterling contributions to students and youth developmental projects towards nation building&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p>He added that the passion and charismatic leadership skills he usually displays at empowering youths and students are the reason we deemed it fit to honour him&comma; and having exceedingly helped students to attain a great height made the feats prodigious&comma;&OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p>In his remarks&comma; Dr&period; Odedina thanked the students’ association for honouring him with an award as &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;The Most Students Friendly Head of Institution”&comma; adding that they should continue to ensure dignity and peaceful co-existence amongst students&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p>At the event&comma; NANS spokesman&comma; Adeyemi Azeez coordinated the induction of new executive of OGUN NANS&comma; who will direct the affairs of Ogun State tertiary institution students&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p>However&comma; the Provost&comma; Dr&period; Ayodele Ajayi of the Federal College of Education&comma; Abeokuta&comma; who doubled as host was also honored with an award of excellence<&sol;p>&NewLine;

Nollywood Actress, Shine Rosman, Raises Alarm Over Alleged Sexual Harassment In Lagos OpenLife reports that Nollywood actress Shine Rosman has spoken about what she describes as ongoing incidents of sexual harassment affecting women in parts of Lagos, particularly in Yaba. She said the issue is widely known among residents but remains unaddressed. “Do you know how bad sexual harrssment is in Lagos? Like go to Yaba, as a girl and see how you will be touched inappropriately. Everybody hearing this knows that it is true. But till today, nothing is being done about it.” She described what she claims are repeated incidents of inappropriate contact in public spaces without consequences for those responsible. “You’re walking in Yaba and people are touching you inappropriately and nothing will happen.” Rosman questioned the absence of effective intervention and raised concerns about personal safety in such environments. “If the government is not going to do anything, is it not ok for us to defend ourselves? In 2026, in a country like Nigeria, s+xual har+ssment is still one of the most passive things.” She also raised concerns about the implications of such behaviour occurring in open public spaces. “If a man can s+xually h+rass you casually during the day, what do you think he can do behind closed doors when no one is looking?”. The comments were made during an interview with Tolu Afilaka, where she discussed women’s safety in public areas of Lagos.
