Ogun Assembly speeds up MAUSTEC bill, demands Council ‘State of Affairs’

Moshood Abiola University of Science and Technology Amendment Law, 2019- A Bill for a Law to Amend the Moshood Abiola University of Science and Technology, 2017 has scaled through first reading before the Ogun State House of Assembly.

The bill was read for the first time  by the Deputy Clerk of the Assembly, Mr. Deji Adeyemo, before the lawmakers at a plenary presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Olakunle Oluomo at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan Abeokuta.

 The first reading was consequent upon the acknowledgement of the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun’s correspondence dated 18th of July 2019, communicating the amended bill to the Assembly.

” I forward herewith a bill for a law to amend the Moshood Abiola University of Science and Technology Law, 2017 for the kind consideration and passage of the House of Assembly”, the letter partly reads.

Meanwhile, in its bid to take further actions on the suspension of Local Government political office holders done by the eight Assembly, the Assembly Speaker has directed all the  Heads of Local Government Administration  (HOLGA) in all Local Government Councils and Local Council Development Areas in the State to submit a ‘State of Affairs report” before Thursday, 25th of July 2019. 

Oluomo, who made the announcement explained that the report was to be coordinated by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, with  Council Chairmen in the Ogun East Senatorial District expected to appear before the Assembly on Monday, 5th August, 2019 while their counterparts from the Ogun West Senatorial District are to take their turn on 12th August, 2019 and those  from Ogun Central are to come on 19th of August, 2019 respectively.

In another development, a member representing Yewa North I, Hon Adeyanju Adegoke laid a petition on behalf of Igbogila Central Community Association calling for the immediate completion of MDGs Primary Health Centre project cited at Igbogila before the House of Assembly.

According to Adeyanju, the abandoned project which was being handled by Dasir International Resources LTD, had been an hideout for hoodlums and a death trap for residents of the community.
