Offset
OpenLife Nigeria reports that Kiari Kendrell Cephus, 35, popularly known as Offset in entertainment space is facing another legal challenge.
The life of the former Cardi B’s husband has been anything but quiet lately. While recovering from a gunshot wound outside the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Florida, the rapper now faces a lawsuit from the MotorCity Casino Hotel in Detroit for $100,000.
The casino claims Offset opened a credit line earlier this year, in March 2024, to fund a night of gambling. When the casino attempted to collect the debt directly from his account as the credit line agreement allowed they say there were insufficient funds. According to TMZ, the casino has filed claims against Offset including breach of contract and fraud.
A representative for Offset told TMZ, “We are working toward a resolution.” This indicates that discussions are underway, but the legal action adds another layer of pressure amid already challenging circumstances.
The lawsuit coincides closely with a violent incident in Florida, where Offset and Lil Tjay’s crews got into a confrontation that ended in gunfire. Offset was shot in the leg and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Lil Tjay was booked for disorderly conduct but released the next day.
Financial difficulties have followed Offset for some time. He previously faced a lien from the IRS and was required to pay more than $1.5 million in federal income tax. Now, with a major casino taking legal action, Offset is balancing recovery, legal battles, and financial obligations all at once.
As fans watch closely, the coming weeks will reveal how the rapper handles these intertwined challenges.
