Obiozor As Ohanaeze Ndigbo President-General delights Eze Sir Chris Offia
OpenLife Nigeria reports that Eze Sir Chris Offia, KSM, Chairman, Council of Lagos Ndieze in the Lagos Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has described Ambassador George Obiozor’s emergence as President-General Ohanaeze Ndigbo as the dawn of progress.
Obiozor, a diplomat and former Nigerian Ambassador to the United States between 2004 and 2008, succeeded John Nnia Nwodo through an election conducted on Sunday, October 10 in Owerri, Imo State capital where he defeated other candidates to emerge worldwide leader of the apex Igbo socio-cultural group.
In a congratulatory message he personally signed and made available to newsmen, Eze Offia who is the Eze Ndigbo, Ibeju-Lekki and traditional Prime Minister (ONOWU) Egede kingdom in Enugu State, expressed happiness over the choice of Ambassador Obiozor saying “It is indisputably the dawn of new era of progress not only for Ndigbos for Nigeria and the whole world.”
He expressed optimism on the capacity of Obiozor to build on the standards of Ndigbo prerogatives established by Nnia Nwodo.
He lauded Nwodo’s statesmanship and commitment to reconnect all the local configurations of Ndigbos within the context of sustainable pride of being an Igbo.
The Honoured Member of Knight of St Mulumba Nigeria, however, admonished the new President General to use his global experience to develop models that will properly reintegrate Ndigbos into its traditional frontline benchmark in the socio-economic curve of Nigeria and in the Diaspora.
“It is not a mere coincidence that our respected George Obiozor is coming into office as Ohanaeze President-General same time when there is change of leadership in the United State of America. Obiozor is well known in that circle and in the days ahead, I have no doubt in my mind that his relationship with the western world will begin to reflect in Ndigbo progress. So, we made the right choice,” he emphasized.
Eze Offia who assumed office as Chairman, Lagos Ndieze, on November 17, cautioned aggrieved Ndigbos to desist from being enemies within the Ndigbo enclave and sued for total cooperation with Obiozor in the match towards rebirth.
“I call on my Ndigbos brothers and sisters all over the world to close ranks this time with Ambassador Obiozor to develop potential in the quest for progress and growth. We need a cohesive Ndigbo more than before especially at this time when some of our respected Ndigbos are making efforts at 2023 direction,” the businessman and advertising genius advised.
Continuing, Eze Offia advised leaders and citizens across Ohanaeze stratosphere against compromise on integrity as opportunities abound for the attainment of desired objectives.
“As a people, our profound failings to lead have been ignored for too long. Ndigbo’s abundant specialties and capabilities seem to have escaped the right attention in spheres of governance. We must strive to take our rightful positions in commerce and governance at a time like this when God has blessed us with Obiozor as worldwide leader of Ohanaeze Ndigbo,” he submitted.
Above all, Sir Offia assured Ambassador Obiozor of the unadulterated supports and loyalty of the Council of Ndieze in Lagos State saying that “on behalf of all the Ezes in Lagos, I assure Ambassador Obiozor of our supports. This are most trying moments in the history of our country. He can count on us always,” he stressed.
