How My Alleged “Fake” Agency Was Established—Nwabueze Buchi George Reveals More

How My Alleged “Fake” Agency

OpenLife News reports that national Coordinator of the National Brands Development and Made in Nigeria Special Project Office, Nwabueze Buchi George, has gone public with a purported appointment letter from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, OSGF, as controversy trails the alleged operation of a “fake” government agency within the SGF complex.

How The News Broke

The story broke on Saturdayafter President Bola Tinubu ordered the arrest of George over the alleged running of an unauthorized agency within the premises of the OSGF.

According to findings by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, the discovery was made during a broader investigation into the activities of an alleged “Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, PFIPC” and other procedural weaknesses in government.

ICPC Chairman, Musa Aliyu, told reporters the probe also led to the immediate suspension of three permanent secretaries over their roles in the matter.

George Shares “Appointment Letter” On LinkedIn

Reacting hours after the presidential directive, George took to his LinkedIn page on Saturday to share what he described as his official appointment letter, bearing the OSGF letterhead.

The letter, dated October 3, 2025 with reference number OSGF/MIN/59310/11/205, was signed by Nadungu Gagare, listed as Permanent Secretary, Political and Economic Affairs Office.

It was titled: “Appointment as National Coordinator and Executive Director Made in Nigeria Project Office.”

“I am directed to formally convey the approval of your appointment as National Coordinator/Executive Director of the Made in Nigeria Project Office under the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

“The appointment follows a careful evaluation of your commitment, contribution, and capacity in delivering on the mandate of the Special Project Office.
“The appointment is a five-year tenure starting from July 2025 and is renewable.”

Stated Mandate And Office Space

According to the letter, George’s responsibilities include the <strong>supervision and development of programmes, projects and policies, as well as oversight of regional and state coordinators.

He was also tasked with organising exhibitions, trade expos, economic summits and other promotional initiatives in line with the national mandate to promote economic development through indigenous products and services.

The letter further stated that the project would utilise “the temporary Office Space at Room B53, Ground Floor, within the OSGF Complex” for coordination.

Nwabueze Buchi George shared a purported appointment letter from the OSGF on LinkedIn

It noted that the appointment was “at the pleasure of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation” and in line with the objectives of the Made in Nigeria initiative under the Renewed Hope agenda.

States Received Nomination Requests

As the controversy unfolded, reports have it that several state governments received multiple letters from George, requesting that they nominate state coordinators for the Made in Nigeria Project Office.

The letters, sent on official-looking letterhead, directed states to forward names for the project’s structure across the federation.

What Happens Next

With the President’s arrest order and the ICPC investigation ongoing, the authenticity of the appointment letter and the legal status of the “Made in Nigeria Project Office” are now central to the probe.

Government sources say investigators are tracing how George gained access to office space within the SGF complex and how correspondence was issued to state governments under the OSGF name.

George, in his LinkedIn post, did not address the allegations directly but shared the document as proof of his appointment.

As of press time, the OSGF is yet to issue an official statement confirming or denying the issuance of the letter.
