NOSOP Sues For Peace As Nigerians Celebrate Easter

NOSOP sues for peace

OpenLife Nigeria reports that the national coordinator of the North South Progressive Movement, NOSOP, Dr. John Nwobodo, has extended felicitations to all Nigerians, home and abroad, at the commencement of the 2nd quarter of year 2021 which coincides with Easter celebrations.
In a statement he personally signed and made available on the association’s platform, Nwobodo cautioned leaders across strata against attitudes unworthy of emulation by the emerging generation.

He reiterated NOSOP’s unrelenting advocacy for good governance, equity and justice for all.
In the statement titled “New Month Message To NOSOP Family And Nigerians, in which NOSOP sues for peace,” Nwobodo expressed joy that despite all the challenges associated with the first quarter of the year including economic somersaults and insecurity, Nigerians remained committed to a united country.

“The first quarter of 2021came with its challenges. There were drums of war and succession as had never been witnessed in recent times.
“The level of insecurity was aggravated by inter-ethnic tensions brought about by herders-farmers crises in Southern Nigeria.
The rate of high crimes such as kidnapping, banditry, armed robbery also increased.
“These events threatened the fragile peace in our country and put to test our resolve to live together as one indivisible and indissoluble nation.
“Our beliefs and hopes for a united, peaceful and prosperous Nigeria were seriously challenged. Yet we were not despaired,” he noted.
However, Nwobodo admonished Nigerians to sustain that spirit of oneness for a prosperous Nigeria “Let us keep being examples of good Nigerians in words and in deeds,” adding that the commencement of the 2nd quarter of the year should serve as “A mental barometer to periodically assess, evaluate, review and reflect on our journey either as an individual, group or nation.”

“To our Christian brethren, pray for the unity and peace of Nigeria even as you mark the resurrection of the Saviour Jesus Christ.”

The national coordinator urged governments at all levels and leaders across strata to key into NOSOP’s reservoir of recommendations which are embedded in its consistent advocacy for people oriented policy formulations and implementations.
