OpenLife reports that Nollywood actor Ijebu has voiced strong concerns over the growing trend of influencers livestreaming themselves drinking hypochlorite (hypo), warning that the stunt poses serious risks to children and young viewers.

“We have kids who are already using phone, I don’t know when people turn sniper and hypo to content, in the name of I want to end it all, I’m calling on the police to stand up and start arresting them,” Ijebu said, condemning the viral content that has swept social media.

The warning follows shocking livestream videos involving popular content creators King Mitchy and VeryDarkMan, who reportedly ingested hypo during online sessions.

The dangerous act quickly went viral, igniting outrage among social media users and sparking discussions about the responsibilities of influencers and the risks of extreme online challenges.

Ijebu stressed that such stunts not only endanger the lives of those performing them but also influence impressionable youths who may attempt to imitate the behaviour.

He urged authorities to step in and ensure that social media platforms are not used to promote self-harm or dangerous challenges.

As the discussion around King Mitchy and VeryDarkMan continues, Ijebu’s appeal shows the urgent need for accountability, stronger content moderation, and public safety measures in the Nigerian entertainment and social media space.
