No More Bias In The Enlistment Into The Police

OpenLife Nigeria reports that the Chairman of the Police Service Commission and co-Chairman of the Governing Council of the Police Academy, Wudil, Kano, Dr. Solomon Arase, CFR, retired Inspector General of Police, visited the Academy today, Tuesday, November 14th 2023.

The Academy is currently Screening candidates for the 2023 admission.

Dr. Arase while addressing the management of the Academy directed that there must be a level playing field for all candidates and that concerns raised by candidates must be addressed in the interest of fairness and justice.

A statement signed by Ikechukwu Ani ,Head Press and Public Relations and made available to OpenLife quoted Arase as saying that the admission processes must be collaborative of all the agencies that make up the Police Recruitment Board.

The Board is headed by the Police Service Commission and has Members from the Nigeria Police Force, the Ministry of Police Affairs, Federal Character Commission and Police Colleges.

The PSC Chairman noted that scores for the different stages of the assessment must be in tune with best practices and requirements of the Joint Admission and Martriculation Board.

He said in places where there were glitches in the Computer based tests, it should be addressed so as not to deny some candidates the opportunity of a level playing field.

The PSC Chairman also demanded that every candidate must be allowed to go through all the selection processes after which the Recruitment Board would decide on numbers for admission based on equality of states.

He also made a case for Gender sensitivity and commended the Management of the Academy for the good work they are doing.
