Nnewi, the industrial hub of Anambra State, witnessed an unusual traffic on August 15 as security agents across military formations received honours from the communities for providing unassailable security to the environment.
A statement by Superintendent Haruna Mohammed, Anambra Police Command’s public Relations Officers, stated that
the occasion which was sponsored by one of Nnewi’s illustrious son, Dr Chukwuma Innoson, recognized officers across various security agencies in the State comprising Police, Department of State Security, DSS, Civil Defence, Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC and local vigilante group.
These officers, according to the statement, have exhibited selfless service in promoting safety and security in Nnewi town
The statement added that it was “Part of the communities’ efforts to show appreciation and boost the morale of the law enforcement officials in the State.”
The event held at the palace of HRH Igwe K.O.N Orizu III.
Beneficiaries of the awards include Anambra Commissioner of police, John Abang; Nnewi Area Commander, ACP Sunday Irek; the second in command in the Nnewi Area Command, CSP Ndidi Amaka, Nnewi DPO, CPS Nnamdi Anabike and DPO Otolo Division, CSP Hassan Lawal.
Others include Divisional Crime officers Nnewi and Otolo Divisions as well as Unit Commanders SARS and Special Anti-cult among others.
Responding on behalf of the award recipients, the Commissioner John Abang thanked the traditional ruler and organisers for recognizing their efforts towards promoting safety and security in the State.
He further promised to work for greater peace and security in Anambra State and beyond.
Dignitaries who graced the occasion include former Governor of Anambra State, Her Excellency Dame Virgy Etiaba, Chief Dr Chukwuma Innoson, Chairman and CEO INNOSON Motors, Chief Engineer Dan Ulasi.
Also present were Obi of Uruagu, Obi Afam Obi, Obi of Umudim,Obi Beneth Okafor,Obi of Nnewichi ,Obi George Onyekaba and PG Nnewi Sir Ugochukwu Udemezie among others.
