<p><strong>Nnamdi Kanu, detained leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) on Tuesday said the verdict of Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court, Abuja, denying him bail and <a href="http://Openlife.ng">adjourning his trial</a> is ‘expected’.</strong></p>
<p>The IPOB leader has been in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) in Abuja since his rearrest in Kenya in 2021.</p>
<p>Kanu was speaking shortly after Tuesday’s court session which went against him.</p>
<p>The 54-year-old separatist leader asked the people of the southeast region to “remain calm” and make the zone peaceful.</p>
<p>“It is what we expect. But I want our people to be very calm. I want Biafranland to be calm, calm, and very peaceful. We are fighting to defend our people, not to kill them.</p>

<p>“We are fighting to defend them, that’s why I’m here. And we will continue to do so until we get victory,” Kanu said.</p>
