<h4><strong>Nigeria Is Worse Under APC Government&#8212;Former Lagos Deputy Governor, Kofoworola Bucknor</strong></h4>

<p><em><strong><a href="https://openlife.ng/">OpenLife Nigeria</a></strong> reports that Her Excellency, former deputy governor of Lagos State, Kofoworola Bucknor, has described Nigeria as worse off under the All Progressives Congress, APC government, pointing at insecurity, poor educational system as discouraging metrics.</em></p>

<p><strong>THE PDP IS CURRENTLY GRAPPLING WITH SEVERE INTERNAL CRISES, MOST NOTABLY PERSISTENT LEADERSHIP DISPUTES, MASSIVE DEFECTION TO THE RULING ALL PROGRESSIVE CONGRESS APC AND COURT INTERVENTIONS. WHAT CAN YOU SAY TO THESE?</strong></p>
<p>We don’t have any crises, the problem is that there are some people who have been planted in PDP who are really APC products because how can you say that you are in PDP and you are going to host the president of another party, then go and Join that party and work for that party?</p>
<p>So, it is obvious that the people have been planted to disrupt the PDP but I can assure you that the PDP still remains strong even at the grassroots level.</p>
<p><strong>WHAT CAN YOU SAY ABOUT THE INTERNAL DEMOCRACY STRUGGLES WHICH HAVE LED TO INTENSE COURTROOM, DRAMA, INCLUDING FEDERAL HIGH COURT RULINGS?</strong></p>
<p>We have got to a stage whereby we have to be careful about the role our Judiciary is playing with the politics of this Nation.</p>
<p>They have to be careful so that they don’t call for the disintegration of this country.</p>
<p>It seems that some members of the Judiciary are partisans, we have some good ones among the judiciaries and some of them are aligned with the powers that be.</p>
<p><strong>WHAT OF THE COMPETITING FACTIONS WHICH HAVE CLASHED OVER PARTY DOCUMENTS OF EXECUTIVES AND THE FILLING OF WORKING COMMITEES, POSITIONS SUCH AS NATIONAL SECRETARY AND CHAIRMAN?</strong></p>
<p>I don’t think, obviously that we have clashed but in the PDP some members were suspended, I don’t think there are clashes in the national working committee.</p>
<p>The question of clash does not exist it is just that some members are working for other parties rather the PDP.</p>
<p><strong>IN THE PDP WE HAVE THE WIKE GROUP WHICH SUSPENDED SOME MEMBERS AND ALSO THE TURAKI GROUP WHICH SUSPENDED SOME PEOPLE, </strong></p>
<p><strong>WHAT IS YOUR TAKE?</strong></p>
<p>I am sorry to say so Wike has no authority to suspend anybody, he is a member of the board of trustee and I too I am a member of the board of trustee, they do not have powers to suspend people.</p>
<p><strong>THE PDP CRISES LEADERSHIP CRISES HAVE TRIGERED A MASS EXODUS OF KEY FIGURES. BY MID 2026 THE MAJORITY OF THE GOVERNORSHIP ELECTED ON THE PDP PLATFORM IN 2023 HAVE DEFECTED TO THE RULING TO THE RULING APC PARTY COLLASPING THE <a href="https://www.vanguardngr.com/">PARTY</a> STRUCTURE, WHAT CAN YOU SAY TO THESE.</strong></p>
<p>Well I don’t think it is only the PDP that people both governors and others are defecting to the APC, APC is saying that once you come to our party your sins are forgiven so those who are defecting feel that their sins are forgiven by the APC.</p>
<p><strong>SOME PEOPLE ARE SAYING THAT PDP IS FACING SEVERE SOCIAL ECONOMIC CHALLENGES, THE PDP INABILITY TO ORGANIZE A UNITED FRONT HAS CRIPPLED IT’S ABILITY TO SERVE AS A FORMIDABLE CHECK ON THE RULING APC POWERES, WHAT IS YOUR VIEW?</strong></p>
<p>The Turaki led party is united it is just some people who are APC members want to stay in PDP, work for APC, they should resign and join the party of their choice.</p>
<p><strong>AS NATIONAL SECURITY REMAINS A PRESSING CONCERN ACROSS VARIOUS ZONES THE PDP ALIGNED OPPOSITION HAS REISTED CALLS FOR MILTARY TROOPS DEPLOYMENTS DURING RECENT ELECTIONS CITING FEARS OF VOTERS SUPPRESSIONS AND THE MILTARIZATIONS OF DEMOCRACY, WHAT IS YOUR TAKE?</strong></p>
<p>Well I agree with that because past elections I was at my pooling boot when a whole lots of soldiers came and a lot of people were threatened and went away when they saw that, I don’t think that the military has any business In a democratic settings the police are the ones to be deployed not the military.</p>
<p><strong>WHAT CAN YOU SAY ON THE PDP PARTY REPOSITIONING FOR THE UPCOMING 2027 GENERAL ELECTIONS WITH POLITICAL STRATEGIST ACTIVELY ATTEMPTING TO CONSOLIDATE FACTIONS AND FIELD UNIFYING CONSENSUS CANDIDATE TO RECAPTURE FEDERAL POWER?</strong></p>
<p>I don’t know what you mean by consensus candidate because the PDP has its own way of candidates emerging and if you are referring to a consensus with Wike group, we cannot have a consensus with somebody who is supporting the candidate of another political party, how can there be a consensus in such a situation.</p>
<p><strong>IT HAS BEEN OBSERVED THAT THE PDP HAS BEEN GAPPLING WITH AN INTERNAL CRISES WHICH HAS LED TO MEMBERS RESIGNING IN DROVES. WHAT IS YOUR VIEW?</strong></p>
<p>I don’t think members are resigning in droves, those who are real members of PDP are still members of PDP working very hard for the stability of the party.</p>
<p><strong>IT HAS BEEN OBSERVED THAT THE APC HAS RECOGNISED THE WIKE LED FACTION ARE YOU OKAY WITH SUCH?</strong></p>

<p>Well the APC has planted stooges in every political parties in other to weeken them in other to pave way for them to emerge victories in 2027.</p>
<p><strong>IS THE PARTY READY TO DELIVER THE MUCH NEEDED RELIEVE FOR THE NIGERIAN PEOPLE WHO BELIEVE IN PDP?</strong></p>
<p>If you look at when PDP was in power compared to what is happening now The PDP is ready to take Nigeria back to what it was.</p>
<p><strong>WHAT IS THE WAY FORWARD FOR THE PDP</strong></p>
<p>The way forward for PDP is to mobilize at the grassroots</p>
<p><strong>WILL PDP BOUNCE BACK AS IT WERE BEFORE?</strong></p>
<p>Definitely PDP will bounce back.</p>
<p><strong>SOME PEOPLE ARE SAYING THAT THE TINUBU ADMNISTRATIONS HAVE CAUSED NIGERIANS TOO MUCH PAINS. IS THAT YOUR VIEW?</strong></p>
<p>The administration has taken steps without properly thinking what the effects will be to people, they have removed subsidy the removal of subsidy was not properly planned and its effect has frustrated Nigerians</p>
<p><strong>WHAT CAN YOU SAY ON THE ABDUCTIONS OF SCHOOL PUPILS, STUDENTS AND TEACHERS KIDNAPP IN OYO STATE?</strong></p>
<p>That’s the greatest thing that has happened in Nigeria today even up to 2 years old is being kidnapped.</p>
<p>The situation is very devastating and people are impoverished by the day.</p>

<p>The cost of living is skyrocketing I personally have cut off something that will be a financial burden for me, looking at the minimum wage which is 70thousand naira what can anybody buy at that amount with his family.</p>
<p>The rate of unemployment is also part of our problem, Umarro Dikko in his days says he has not seen Nigerians eating from the dustbins but presently Nigerians are eating from the dustbins.</p>
<p><strong>Also, </strong> we know that public safety is more hazardous than it has ever been, people are scared to travelled for instance out of Lagos, I have cut off most activities outside Lagos because of insecurity, if this is happening in this era of technology age where people can be tracked, the government should enhance efforts to track down these people, the insecurity is very worrisome.</p>
<p><strong>WHAT CAN YOU SAY ON THE STATE OF CORRUPTION IN NIGERIA?</strong></p>
<p>In most government parastatals you cannot do anything without having to pay up fronts it was never like that before from the lowest to the highest, there is now corruption.</p>
<p><strong>THE COUNTRY NOW HAS A STAGGERING NUMBER OF OUT OF SCHOOL CHILDREN……cuts in </strong></p>
<p>First of all we have had these number of out of school children and it seems to be getting worse by the day the insecurity challenges is now compounding, the problems are heavy and I believe that first of all we have to tackle security problems first so that people will not be scared to send their children to school, a lot of parents don’t want to send their children because they are afraid of their children being kidnapped so the security situations must be tackled, most of the out of school children are in the northern part of Nigeria, when Jonathan was president we had this alimajiri schools which was closed during the buhari regime, this should be reinstated back so people can send back their children to school.</p>
<p><strong>HEALTH?</strong></p>
<p>The amount of money spent on the health sector doesn’t give them satisfactory, you are a doctor, you are meant to save lives and in a situations where you are loosing lives you become discouraged, you go to somewhere else where your skills will be utilized well.</p>
<p><strong>WHAT CAN YOU SAY ON THE DEPLOYMENT OF FOREST GUARDS AS INSECURITY GOES WIDE AND DEEPENS?</strong></p>
<p>It is a good one most of these terrorist hid in the forest so more forest guards will checkmate insecurity, we have to monitor what is happening in our forest, it is better for our people.</p>
<p><strong>STATE POLICE?</strong></p>
<p>How can you police a place with people who do not live in the place, who do not know the terrain of that place, it doesn’t work that way, so we need to implement state police and I am an advocate of state police and restructuring, Nigeria should be restructured.</p>
<p><strong>GENERAL ASSESSEMNET </strong>OF <strong> THE THREE YEARS SCORE OF THE PRESIDENT</strong></p>
<p>IT has been a disaster. We have been going from disaster to the other.</p>
<p><strong>WHAT ARE YOUR PROJECTIONS ON THE UPCOMING GENERAL ELECTION?</strong></p>
<p>Well I just hope that we have an election come 2027 because the way things are going, the election may not be free and fair election.</p>
