NDC Recognizes And Appreciates All Support Groups But Ughulu’s Announced Presidential Campaign Council Not Authentic—National Chairman, Senator Cleopas Moses

Recognizes And Appreciates All Support Groups

OpenLife News reports that the leadership of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has disowned a purported Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) announced by one John Ughulu under the guise of “OK Movement”, describing the publication as fake and unauthorized.

In a statement signed by its National Chairman, Senator Cleopas Moses, the party said the announcement did not emanate from the party and should be disregarded by the public and the media.

The party dissociated itself in totality from the said OK Movement PCC announcement and warned that no individual or support group is authorized to constitute or publish any campaign council or organ in the name of the party without prior approval from the National Working Committee (NWC).

Senator Moses stressed that all candidates of the party are not running as independent candidates but remain products of the party and subject to its authority and discipline, adding that only the party leadership can constitute and announce a PCC.

He cautioned that no member, candidate, or support group should undermine or demarket the party under any guise, noting that support groups should not see themselves as alternative party structures or parallel organs.

While recognizing and appreciating the contributions of all support groups and welcoming more groups who identify with its mission to rescue Nigeria, the party said it will continue to work collaboratively with them.

The Chairman also warned against unnecessary attacks on the party by its members and support groups, advising that all grievances should be channeled through appropriate internal mechanisms for resolution rather than public attacks.

For his affront, excesses during the primary election in Lagos State, and repeated disregard for party authority, the party said Mr. Ughulu has been referred to its disciplinary organ for necessary action in line with the party’s constitution.

The NDC reiterated its commitment to an issue-based campaign focused on delivering a New Nigeria that is POssible.

He warned that only the NWC can constitute a PCC, stressed that candidates are not independent of party authority, referred Ughulu to the disciplinary committee over alleged excesses, but reaffirmed that the NDC recognizes and appreciates all support groups.
