NDC Campaign Council List Is Healthy

 

OpenLife News reports that the National Publicity Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Barrister Osa Director, has said the party’s National Campaign Council list to be unveiled on Monday, October 26, is healthy and has the capacity to rescue Nigeria from poverty.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Morning Brief on Monday, Director explained that energy, intelligence and balance were considered in constituting the campaign council.

“I can confidently tell you that it is a healthy consensus list,” Director said.

He noted that members of the council were carefully selected and are upbeat to deliver victory for the party and its presidential and vice-presidential candidates on January 16.

Director described the Obidient and Kwankwasiyya movements as the most accepted grassroots political networks in Nigeria, adding that the acceptance of Peter Obi and Musa Kwankwaso across strata has formed Nigeria’s most strategic political partnership ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“NDC is a grassroots party across Nigeria. NDC is the party to beat. Obi is the preferred candidate in Nigeria,” he said.

“We have been commended for balancing the list because we ensured that every section and group is carried along. It is a campaign council made up of governorship, senate, reps from top to bottom and that is why we named it National Campaign Council,” he disclosed.

On the G100 Coalition, an alignment group convened by Salihu Lukman, Director commended the group for acknowledging APC’s failures and the need to rescue the country, but stressed that NDC alone has the capacity to win the 2027 presidential election.

“NDC alone can take APC to the cleaners on January 16. We commend the effort of the G100. They want APC out and also want opposition parties to come together.

“That is good. However, NDC alone can defeat APC. NDC will be willing to collaborate to put APC’s rigging plans in check,” he said.

Director also called on security agents to investigate allegations that the APC was attempting to financially induce opposition politicians to step down ahead of the 2027 polls, as disclosed by NDC chieftain Alhaji Buba Galadima on Arise News Prime Time.

“Buba Galadima broke the news that APC is trying to poach NDC members. We have members of the party who were invited by APC. Security agents should investigate,” he said.

He further said NDC deserves commendation for its anti-defection stance, which he described as novel and innovative with the potency to sanitize Nigeria’s democratic space.

“NDC is a political Noah’s ark to rescue this country. Only APC induces people. NDC has anti-defection oath. Only NDC has that. People are joining NDC willingly.

“NDC is sanitizing the system. The anti-defection oath is novel and tells much of NDC’s commitment to sanitizing the political system,” he stated.

Reacting to President Tinubu’s comments blaming the opposition for poverty, Director dismissed the claim.

“APC is just a propaganda machine as demonstrated by the president’s speech in Kaduna on Saturday. They have no result to campaign with.

“Why has the APC not arrested hunger or solved the problem of hunger since they came to power instead of lamenting?” he asked.
