OpenLife Nigeria reports the Nigerian Association of Social and Resourceful Editors (NASRE) has expressed deep sympathy for the people of Borno State following the devastating floods caused by heavy rainfall.
In a statement released today, September 11, 2024, NASRE commiserates with the state’s government, stakeholders, and residents who have been severely affected by the flooding, which has disrupted economic activities and displaced numerous families.
NASRE, through its President, Comrade Femi Oyewale, emphasized the association’s solidarity with the people of Borno. The statement also highlighted the contributions of the association’s Grand Patron, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai (rtd.), commending his efforts in promoting Borno’s development.
“We stand in solidarity with the government and people of Borno, particularly our esteemed Grand Patron, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai (rtd.), who, along with others, has made significant contributions to elevating Borno to its position as one of Nigeria’s leading states.”
He further emphasized the need for more support: “We urge individuals, institutions, and the international community, including relevant agencies and NGOs, to offer additional support to Borno State and its people during this difficult time.”
The association lauded the federal government’s prompt response, including the visit by Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima, who conducted an on-the-spot assessment of the affected areas. NASRE also acknowledged the relief efforts provided by both state and federal authorities to help mitigate the impact of the disaster.
