In line with the ongoing Community Policing Advisory Committees across the federation as approved by the federal government through the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, Zamfara State Police Commissioner, Usman Nagogo on Friday, June 26 completed the inauguration of Local government community policing Advisory committees in Gusau local government area.
According to a statement signed by the Command’s public relations officer, Superintendent Mohammed shehu, the 25-man committee was unveiled at the palace of Emir of Gusau, Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Bello and attended by the Gusau local government Chairman, traditional rulers, community and religious leaders and other stakeholders.
In his address, the Commissioner of Police told the gathering that the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed A. Adamu NPM, in his commitment to address the security challenges in the country came up with the community policing initiative, which among its mission is to engage members of the community to take part in matters relating to their security, as is every body’s business. He enjoined them to be alive to the responsibility given to them.
In his response, the Emir of Gusau on behalf of the committee members thanked the IGP for muting the community policing idea, and he promised not to fail on the task given to them.
Among the CP’s entourage were the State Director Security, Commandant Civil Defence, Commanding Officers 42,78 Police Mobile Force Squadrons and other senior Officers.
