OpenLife Nigeria reports that the national leadership of the Motorcycle Operators Union of Nigerian, MOUN, has ordered all its state chapters to mobilize and join the Nigeria Labour Congress nationwide strike which is expected to commence on Tuesday, February 27, 2024.
On February 16, the NLC had announced a nationwide protest scheduled for February 27 and 28, over the failure to implement the agreements reached on October 2, following the removal of the fuel subsidy.
This decision followed the conclusion of a 14-day ultimatum issued to the federal government regarding the widespread hardship.
In a statement signed by Comrade Ade Ikuesan, General Secretary of Motorcycle Operators Union of Nigeria, MOUN and made available to OpenLife Monday afternoon, the Union has called on all its state chapters to work with the State chairmen of NLC in their respective states.
Titled Mobilization for Nigeria Labour Congress Two Days Nation wide protest, the Union maintains that they are in agreement with the reasons NLC is embarking on the strike.
“In total compliance with this directive, the leadership of Motor cycle Operators Union of Nigeria hereby calls on all the state chapters and leaders to work with the NLC state chairmen in your various states,” the statement reads
