MOUN Central Working Committee Members Round Off Leadership Training At Micheal Imoudu National Institute For Labour Studies

OpenLife Nigeria reports that members of Central working committee, CWC, of Motorcycle Operators Union of Nigeria, MOUN, have rounded off a leadership training.

The training programme was organised by the Micheal Imoudu National Institute for Labour Studies, Ilorin, Kwara State. The training begun on January 24 and ended on January 26, 2024.

According to a statement from the Motor Cycle Operators Union which was made available to OpenLife, the theme of the training was “Organizing and Leadership Skills Development For Effective Trade Unionism In An Era Of Renewed Hope Agenda.”

The training which contained 10 sessions and involved Trade Unionism and improvement of transportation system standards in Nigeria, started with the registration of participants and opening ceremony by singing solidarity songs followed by the introduction of all participants .

First to introduce herself was the coordinator, B.O Alaya, followed by the President of the union, Alhaj Olusola Rasak Sotayo and General Secretary, Comrade Ade Ikuesan and other members of the CWC.

After the solidarity songs and introduction by the participants, the coordinator introduced the Director General, DG of the Institute, Comrade Isa Aremu who gave a welcome address.

Comrade Aremu, in his address, appreciated all participants and the lecturers. He recognised the President and the General Secretary and expressed confidence in the quality of the lecturers in the Institute.

Comrade Aremu called for unity and practice of democratic principles in any decision making as well as adoption of social dialogues in the management of critical issues.

Participants were also taught right work attitudes for members of MOUN including work dress code in line with the established philosophy that there is dignity in labour.

Contribution to one of the sessions, the President of the Union, Alhaj Olusola Rasak Sotayo stated clearly that Okada, as its popularly called, is one of the sectors that provide employment and put food on peoples’ table in Nigeria.

He frown at those who hide under the operation of Okada to commit crimes. He called on government to work with the union so that bad elements within its circle will be exposed and death with, accordingly.

Participants were presented with a certificate by the Director, M.J. Raji.

President Sotayo however, used the training opportunity to meet some members of the union in Ilorin and advised them to be law abiding citizens and motor cycle operators.

He advised them not to engage in criminal activities that will dent the image and integrity of the association.
He offered prayers and encouraged them to remain united.
