Mentally Challenged Man Kills An Octogenarian
OpenLife Nigeria reports that a man suspected to be mentally challenged has beheaded an 84-year-old man, Elder Alfred Opadipe, in Ipara community, Remo North Local Government Area of Ogun State.
According to information, policemen in Ogun State have killed the man in return.
The lunatic, identified as David Shodola, 32, on Friday morning reportedly beheaded Elder Opadipe, throwing the town into confusion.
Residents of the community described the incident as shocking.
Ogun police spokesperson, Omotola Odutola, confirmed the incident on Friday evening.
According to Odutola, the police received a call from an unnamed informant, following which police officers led by the Isara Divisional Police Officer (DPO), CSP Bankole Eluyeru, visited the scene.
She explained that an attempt to arrest the suspect was fiercely resisted as he used “the matchete on the Divisional Police Officer and his men.”
She disclosed that the team succeeded “in neutralizing the suspect and weapon recovered from him.”
However, Odutola stated there was “no recount of the suspect being a madman from the intelligence the police gathered.”
