OpenLife Nigeria reports that as President Muhammadu Buhari insists on dealing with south eastern advocates secessionists in the language they understand, Mr. Dan Nnwanyanwu, national chairman, Zenith Labour Party, ZLP, has opined that the proponent of the Biafra secessionist agenda, Maxi Nnamdi Kanu, has exhibited firm grip on Igbo youths so much so that federal government may capitulate soon.
He stated this today while responding to questions on AIT Kakaaki programme.
Nnwanyanwu noted that Nnamdi Kanu has manifested as a leader of note whom the youths in south eastern Nigeria have built absolute confidence. He stated that the last time any leader commanded such troops and loyalists was in the first republic when the like of Obafemi Awolowo, Nnamdi Azikiwe and other notable fiefs held sway in their respective regions with dedicated followers.
“As respectful as Awolowo and Azikiwe were, none of them were able to achieve such huge success in a sit-at-home order like Kanu,” he stated.
The lawyer emphasized that the commanding height Nnamdi Kanu has attained suggests that he can rattle the federal government in several fronts.
While noting that there a wrong profiling of Ndigbos, he however cautioned that dialogue rather than militancy would address the heightened insecurity in Igbo land.
