Liberia Has Failed—Boakai

Liberia Has Failed

OpenLife Nigeria reports that Liberia, a country in West Africa, bordering Sierra Leone, Guinea and Côte d’Ivoire with estimated population of 5.18 million (2021} has been described as failed in all growth indicators.
This verdict was made known on Tuesday during an interactive session on Arise Tv by the country’s former Vice President between 2006 and 2018, Joseph Nyumah Boakai.
Boakai, who was the 29th vice president of Liberia served under President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.
Speaking on Arise TV, Boakai, who is now a presidential candidate in the 2023 presidential election in Liberia stated that Liberia has failed.
“Liberia has gone backward. Liberia is on auto pilot. We need to rescue Liberia,” he posited.
Joseph Boakai, a Baptist and a deacon, who was born in a remote village of Worsonga in Foya District, Lofa County, on 30 November 1944, pointed out the flaws in George Obong Weah’s government, a development he stated has taken the country backward in economic development.
Among other things, he stated that the country is currently messed up with garbage, stressing that Weah is doing nothing about it.
Boakai maintained that President George Weah is interested in football than the presidency adding that
President Weah travelled abroad for a month and a half, in particular to encourage his son, who does not even play for the Liberian team, at the World Cup in Qatar.
“George Weah was never called for presidency,” he said.
The Unity Party of Liberia presidential candidate explained that as an expert in agriculture, part of the measures his plans to rescue Liberia is to ensure food sufficiency through enhanced and sustainable agriculture practice.
He stated that when he was in office with President Sirleaf, Liberia was removed from being a failed country.
