Less Than 24 Hours, New Governor Set To Send Ex Governor To Jail

OpenLife Nigeria reports that the newly sworn in governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf seems to be in a hurry to send his immediate predecessor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje to jail by re visiting some of the activities of the ex governor which Abba considers inappropriate.

Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, 73, served as the Governor of Kano State from 2015 till yesterday, May 29, 2023.
He previously served as Rabiu Kwankwaso’s deputy governor twice between 1999-2003 and 2011-2015.

In a post on his Twitter handle, governor Abba Yusuf said:
In line with our transition advisory, I am announcing today that all public places and assets that were sold by the Umar Ganduje’s administration should be taken over by law enforcement agencies pending the final decision of the government.
“We have noted that the last administration had sold lands around schools, religion and cultural sites, hospital, graveyards and green areas etc.”
These quick actions have been interpreted in many quarters to mean a huge battle ahead for former governor Ganduje given the circumstances that ushered in the new New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP.
Credible multiple sources have said governor Abba Yusuf would initiate prosecution against Ganduje after gathering convincing evidence which his foot soldiers are currently working on.
“We will send him to jail,” governor Abba Yusuf has been quoted to have said during a pre inauguration stakeholders meeting.
