Lagos Ohanaeze Ndigbo clicks glasses at 2, Thanks Sanwo-Olu, Partners Fidelity for economic prosperity

“The Igbos are known for its enterprising spirit. There are more than four million Ohanaeze Ndigbos in Lagos. The economic well being of fellow Ndigbos in Lagos is very important to me. That is hugely the reason we are introducing Fidelity Bank services to reactivate the economic bearings of all Lagos Ndigbos for sustainable prosperity.”

With these remarks, the focus of the Chief Solomon Ogbonna Aguene’s led Lagos Ohanaeze Ndigbo became clearer on Tuesday, June 16 when the current leadership celebrated its 2nd year in office at the Surulere secretariat.

The 2nd anniversary, which had an impressive array of notable Igbo fiefs, was the needed opportunity for Chief Aguene, who has been variously described as “game changer,” to present his testimonial.

Justifying the confidence reposed in him by fellow Ndigbos by electing him into office two years ago, Aguene explained its “Leadership quest to institutionalise Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Lagos State ignited the drive for a befitting Union Secretariat to serve as administrative, consultative base and engine room for Ndigbo in the State.” He added that these efforts have tremendously enhanced the Union’s visibility to state, national and international embrace.

He however thanked governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his accelerated cooperation with Lagos Ndigbo in meetings its desired objectives.

He pointed out the financial supports for widows which governor Sanwo-Olu has redeemed saying  “In the 2019 Windows’ Empowerment Programme organised by Lagos  State Government for members of the Union, a total of 100  Igbo widows got  N100, 000 each as start ups facility. We are grateful to the governor for this.”

Aguene specifically emphasized his commitment to the economic rebirth of the over four million Lagos Ndigbos saying “It is a new dawn for Ndigbos. The Fidelity Bank Ohanaeze Ndigbo Membership Identity and Debit Card is designed as a seamless local and international business transactions and self identification for members. This, we believe, will exterminate all the hurdles my people encounter in their various business process,” he stated.

To support this, Aguene disclosed the Union’s understanding with South Africa, Germany and Spanish Governments on trade and cultural exchange Programmes, which he said would further promote an enduring Ndigbo’s international interests.

While thanking President General of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, High Chief Dr. Ifeanyi Chukwuma Oddi for his fatherly supports, Aguene urged all Ndigbos to comply with government’s instructions on Covid-19 protocols
