Lagos Health Agency Launches Investigation After Socialite Reportedly Dies Following BBL Procedure
OpenLife reports that Lagos State Government has stepped into the controversy surrounding the reported death of a Lagos socialite, Elena Jessica, allegedly linked to a Brazilian Butt Lift surgery.
Officials confirmed that Health Facilities Monitoring and Accreditation Agency, HEFAMAA, a health agency, has begun a probe into the circumstances surrounding the cosmetic procedure that reportedly led to complications.

HEFAMAA was established in March 2006 and is charged with the responsibility of monitoring both private and public health
facilities to ensure registration and accreditation of all health facilities in Lagos State.
The investigation follows viral social media reports claiming the woman experienced severe health problems after undergoing the body enhancement surgery at a private clinic in the state.
Reacting to the development, HEFAMAA’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Abiola Idowu, said the agency would thoroughly review the case to ensure that medical standards and safety regulations were not violated.
He also emphasized that the fact that a clinic is licensed does not prevent authorities from investigating when serious allegations involving patient safety arise.
The incident has since triggered widespread conversations about the safety of cosmetic surgery and the rising trend of body enhancements procedures in Nigeria.
