<h4>Lagos Army GOC Allegedly Fingered In February 18 Guber Poll Rigging<&sol;h4>&NewLine;<p><strong><a href&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;openlife&period;ng&sol;">OpenLife Nigeria<&sol;a><&sol;strong> has learned that an Army General Official Commanding&comma;GOC&comma; in Lagos has been allegedly recruited to rig February 18 governorship poll in Lagos&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;This is coming on the heels that the governor of Central Bank&comma; Godwin Emefiele&comma; is playing his &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;last card” in the closing chapter of the high-stake power-play that has embroiled Nigeria in the past six months&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;In a release made available to OpenLife Sunday night by David Akin-Akinwale&comma; Emefiele is said to be in fresh plot against Tinubu and has therefore recruited a GOC of &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;Victoria Island Army Command&period;”<br &sol;>&NewLine;Among other allegations&comma; the statement noted that &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;To perfect the plot&comma; the cooperation of the General Officer Commanding Officer &lpar;GOC&rpar; of an elite army division located on Victoria Island&comma; who is of Igbo extraction &lpar;name withheld&rpar;&comma; is also said to have been secured by Emefiele through cash inducement&period; He is expected to provide &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;military muscle” to the &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;Igbo agenda” to take over Lagos&period; He was said to have similarly played a &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;spoiler role&OpenCurlyDoubleQuote; on February 25 by deliberately deploying troops of Igbo extraction to provide &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;cover” for the massive rigging in Ajah&comma; Lekki areas in favour of LP’s Peter Obi&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;The serving Major General also provided &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;cover” for the massive rigging reported in Amuwo-Odofin&comma; Ojo&comma; Alaba and Iba areas&period; For instance&comma; troops at his behest reportedly &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;detained” the Oniba of Ibala-land in his palace literally&comma; ostensibly to &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;prevent him from being able able to mobilise his people to vote Tinubu”&period; Troops similarly invaded the palace of Elegushi in Ikate land and openly brutalised APC supporters in viral videos&period; Oba Saheed Elegushi is known to be a staunch Tinubu supporter&period; &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;<br &sol;>&NewLine;However&comma; going by OpenLife checks&comma; <a href&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;www&period;vanguardngr&period;com&sol;">the only GOC on the Lagos Victoria Island is the 81 Division headed by Major General Obinna Ajunwa &period;<&sol;a><br &sol;>&NewLine;But a message sent to the 81 Division Nigerian Army Public Relations&comma; Major Olaniyi Osoba for clarification did not get any response as of the time of filing this report&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;The Nigerian Army is currently headed by Chief of Army Staff &lpar;COAS&rpar;&comma; Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;
