Kwankwaso Speaks On Governor Abba

;

OpenLife Nigeria reports that former Kano State governor and leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso, has warned that no one who betrays the party has ever succeeded, amid growing speculation that Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf may defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Kwankwaso made the remarks while addressing his loyalists as reports continue to circulate about the possible defection of his political ally and successor.

“What I am seeing is even beyond what I expected because I am aware that few, very few of you have decided to cross to the other side, don’t worry, whoever knows them, advise them,” he said.
He expressed satisfaction with the turnout at the gathering despite the alleged moves by some party members to leave the NNPP.

“I’m very glad with the turnout today because I didn’t expect to see so many faces here, because I thought they would follow the governor’s camp. But I want to remind the others who left us that nobody has betrayed us and succeeded,” he stated in the video.

The comments come amid reports that Governor Yusuf is preparing to leave the NNPP.
Earlier, Daily Trust reported that, barring any last-minute change, the Kano State governor was set to dump the NNPP for the APC.

The report, quoting multiple sources, said the governor may defect with or without the blessing of his political mentor, Senator Kwankwaso.

It was further reported that Yusuf insisted on leaving the NNPP after extensive consultations with stakeholders, including members of the Kano State House of Assembly, local government chairmen, and some federal lawmakers from the state.

Although, as of the time of filing this report, Governor Yusuf has not officially announced his defection to the APC, a former presidential aide, Bashir Ahmad, has also said the governor is expected to defect to the ruling party.
