<h4>Kidnapped UNIJOS Student Freed After Negotiations<&sol;h4>&NewLine;<p><strong><a href&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;openlife&period;ng&sol;">OpenLife<&sol;a><&sol;strong> reports that the student of the University of Jos&comma; identified as John Arum &comma; has been freed after spending several days in captivity following his abduction on April 12&comma; 2026&comma; along the Jos–Kaduna highway&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The incident sparked concern across the university community and beyond after it was confirmed that he had been taken away by armed men during the encounter&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Soon after&comma; communication was established with his family&comma; with the abductors demanding a ransom estimated at about ₦30 million in exchange for his release&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>At a point during the period of captivity&comma; a disturbing video circulated showing him being assaulted&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The clip intensified public anxiety and was reportedly used to exert pressure during negotiations with his family&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>As days passed&comma; appeals for his safe return grew within the University of Jos community&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Students&comma; alumni&comma; and concerned members of the public continued to call for his protection and release&comma; while the university’s alumni association also acknowledged the situation and followed developments closely&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;Eventually&comma; he was released by his captors after nearly two weeks in detention&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>His release was confirmed by representatives of the UNIJOS alumni association&comma; who stated that he had been reunited with his family&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Officials have not disclosed whether any ransom was paid or whether security operatives played a direct role in securing his freedom&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>However&comma; those familiar with the situation report that he appeared weak and emotionally shaken after the experience and is currently receiving care and support from relatives&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The case has once again drawn attention to persistent security concerns along major travel routes in the region&comma; with renewed calls for improved safety measures to protect commuters and residents&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;
