OpenLife Nigeria reports that the Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP Bello Sani, has assured the people of the state that the Nigeria Police is at red alert to maintain law and order during the proposed Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC protest as well as end of year festivities and even beyond.
The Command made this assurance in a statement signed by SP Bashir Usman, Police Public Relations Officer and made available to OpenLife.
The statement reads in full:
The Kebbi State Police Command wishes to assure the public of its readiness to maintain law and order during the planned nationwide protest by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), as well as throughout the Yuletide period and beyond.
Recognizing the constitutional right of citizens to peaceful protest, the Command has deployed adequate personnel and will maintain a visible presence at strategic locations to prevent any attempt by miscreants to disrupt the protest and to safeguard lives and property.
In line with sustained security preparedness, the Police, in collaboration with other security agencies, have established enhanced arrangements, including a visible show of force, to deter criminal activity, improve operational visibility, and proactively prevent any breakdown of law and order.
Members of the public are encouraged to report emergencies or suspicious activities to the Police Control Room on 08038797644 or 09015888578.
